Key Competencies

As a Managing Editor and Contributing Editor for Industry Dive, I spearheaded a yearlong investigation into construction safety that won awards in 2023 and 2024 from the American Society of Business Publishing Editors. The five-person investigation team analyzed OSHA accident data for the past 10 years and showed how inspections decreased, while construction increased, and 1 out of 10,000 workers continued to die every year.
Deep reporting also revealed OSHA is anything but a feared enforcer. The agency lacks resources and staff to hit its own inspection targets, and its meager fines are merely a cost of doing business for contractors.
